Question #35865

Why dont christians admit that praying doesnt do anything?

for example "i pray for the homeless" then why are they still homeless?

  • Nancy Drew

I pray and I believe it helps. It’s not an excuse not to help people. Sometimes you just can’t help someone. There’s plenty of people out there who could help people but don’t and they don’t even pray. I figure if praying might help it’s worth doing.

  • Publius

Because it simply isn't true, silly. I myself have seen at least two miraculous cures in response to prayer (placebos don't work on babies).

WHEN YOU PRAY, YOU ARE NOT TELLING GOD WHAT TO DO, YOU ARE SAYING AS JESUS SAID TO SAY, "LET THY WILL BE DONE, NOT MINE".

  • Chi girl

We're not going to "admit" something that isn't true.

  • antonius

There is never any evidence for their claims of what prayer does . So they can make all sorts of goofy claims.

  • Shinigami

Because praying is the poor man's addiction.

  • Your Word is a light to my roadway

Praying to God works for me and my friends. There are procedures/ requirements, if that's the way to say it, for prayers. Jesus told his disciples that there would always be poor people, there are homeless people for a variety of reasons, some are mentally ill and can't function normally where they can maintain a family or home for one. Once God's Kingdom comes to do God's will on earth as in heaven, everyone will have their own land, home, plenty of food, perfect health, to name just a few things. For now, until the issue of sovereignty is settled, man has to take care of man.

And what have you done to help the homeless?

  • bender_xr217

Maybe you have been going about it all wrong... have you yet prayed for all the empty homes looking for occupants?

  • Corvus Blackthorne

That would require an examination into the topic of precisely WHY prayer does nothing, and Christians will do anything to avoid that.
